Christians & Coronavirus:

Staying Connected in Christ

"A STITCH IN TIME"

A STITCH IN TIME

There’s a feeling of helplessness that is pervading our lives right now. I am beginning to understand how the Israelites felt on the night of Passover as they were all huddled in their homes. The streets were quiet. Everyone was waiting for the plague to descend. Some were passed over. Some were not.

Now it is our time. We are warned to stay at home and stay safe. But what to do? My children are grown, so I have no homeschooling or childcare obligations. God in His wisdom sent me several messages outlining exactly what I should do!!!

I am sewing face mask covers for Sew Masks 4 Cincy (www.sewmasks4cincy.org). I have a stash of 100% cotton fabric, thread, interfacing, elastic and sewing skills. I can follow a pattern. I can sew. I can do this little thing. I can make a difference.

The Sew Masks 4 Cincy Facebook page has over 6,000 members now who are sewing 3 types of masks depending on the demand for them by hospitals, health care institutions, police and fire departments, etc. The need is great. These are not surgical grade masks, but rather they are protective covers that can be washed and sterilized and most importantly reused.

If there is anyone in our parish who would like to join this grassroots effort, please join the Facebook group or visit the website for the pattern instructions. If you can sew the masks but are unable to deliver them to the drop off locations (Crossroads Church in Eastgate), please contact me at jethaxton@aol.com and I will happily pick them up at your doorstep and deliver them.
