"But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul."
The Holy Spirit, whom you received when you were baptized, will work in a powerful and unique way for you. If you pray and cooperate with this grace you will begin to identify the special gifts you have been given, not just for your benefit, but to build and strengthen the faith of others.
Please see below for more information.
If you have questions about formation for Confirmation for the new candidates, please contact Lori Anne Fothergill at email@example.com.
Sometime in the fall of your freshman year, you will receive the sacrament of Confirmation. The Holy Spirit, whom you received when you were baptized, will work in a powerful and unique way for each of you. If you pray and cooperate with this grace you will begin to identify the special gifts you have been given, not just for your benefit, but to build and strengthen the faith of others.
We would like to ask you to begin to prepare for this gift in the following ways:
1. Pray for the grace to grow closer to Christ each day.
Prayer is such an important part of our faith formation throughout our entire lives.
We can never pray too much!
Click the above link to register, this will give us the information needed in order to communicate with you all year long. Please fill in as much of the form as possible.
3. Choose a patron saint to be with you on your journey.
A patron saint is a person who has died and is in heaven. The Church, through careful examination of their lives, has determined that these people lived in a heroic way and were examples of how to love the way Jesus loved, some even dying for their faith.
Choose your hero in faith and ask that saint to intercede (pray) for you each day.
You will take this saint's name as your Confirmation name.
4. Choose a Confirmation sponsor.
A Confirmation sponsor is someone who is a fully initiated and practicing Catholic.
This person cannot be your parent, but should be a mentor and friend in faith.
Why now? Because like your patron saint, you need this person to be praying for you every day.
You need this person to share this time with you. The sheet below will assist you.
5. Submit your Permission/Emergency Medical Form and Confirmation fee.
The fee for Confirmation is $60. This fee helps to cover our retreats, mailings and other
expenses related to Confirmation at the Cathedral. This payment should be made
payable to the parish.
6. If you did not receive the Sacraments of Baptism or First Communion at St. Andrew
or St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, please submit a copy of your Baptismal Certificate
to your registered parish.
This gives us the information to notify your place of baptism about your reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation.
7. Attend the Confirmation Retreat .
For your planning purposes, all 7th grade students from St. Andrew, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and St. Veronica will attend ONE of the following retreats at the Jesuit Spiritual Center at Milford. The dates for these retreats are Saturday, November 4 and Saturday, November 11th from 9-3pm.
All 8th grade students from St. Andrew, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and St. Veronica will join together for a retreat in the spring. Dates and location TBA. These are great opportunities for everyone to be together.
