Family of Faith
"And we need simplicity to pray as a family: simplicity is necessary! Praying the Our Father together, around the table, is not something extraordinary: it’s easy.
And also praying for one another! The husband for his wife, the wife for her husband, both together for their children, the children for their grandparents …. praying for each other. This is what it means to pray in the family and it is what makes the family strong: prayer."
– Pope Francis Homily, October 27, 2013
Family of Faith is our Religious Education format designed to empower and equip parents to serve as primary catechists of their children. This process will help show parents that teaching the faith can be done through fun every day activities. Children will model what they live. Our goal is to assist parents in making your home a place where the Catholic faith is “caught” by your children through the every day life experiences that parents guide. Our prayer is that this religious education format will allow flexibility and time for parents’ incredibly busy schedules while also creating intentional time spent in conversation about faith at home and at the parish.
Our team will host family gatherings per the attached calendar. Families will meet twice a month on site (both children and parents) and also be asked to do a specific activity at home with their child(ren) each month. This activity is not sitting down with a textbook, but instead having dialog and doing something that shows how our faith guides us through life and is relevant here and now.
For the students preparing for Sacraments, classes will be held on the Sunday morning gatherings once a month. First Communion and First Reconciliation classes are for students in the 2nd grade. Confirmation is a 2 year formation process beginning in 7th grade. These classes will be taught by parish catechists.
