FUNERAL PREPARATIONS

"Then he said,

'Jesus, remember me when you

come into your kingdom.'

Jesus answered him,

'Truly I tell you, today you will be

with me in paradise'"

(Luke 23:42-43)

FOR A LOVED ONE

St. Andrew Parish extends our deepest condolences to you and your family

during this difficult time. We understand that planning a funeral for your loved one

can oftentimes be overwhelming and emotional.

Our parish staff and Bereavement Committee are very experienced and well-equipped to

help make the funeral planning process as easy on you and your family as possible.

Please see below for your step-by-step guide in arranging a

Mass of Christian Burial at St. Andrew Church.

1. Call the funeral home of your choice.

2. Call St. Andrew to notify the parish of the death.

If you are calling the parish after hours, there will be an option to

leave a message in reporting a death:

St. Andrew the Apostle

552 Main St.

Milford, OH 45150

(513) 831-3353

3. Choose a funeral date.

The date of the funeral is chosen after discussion with the family, funeral home,

church and priest. The funeral home will call the parish to set this up.

Once the date has been set, a member of the St. Andrew Bereavement Committee

is notified, and will call you to make arrangements concerning

the Mass of Christian Burial at the Church.

4. Work with St. Andrew Bereavement Team to plan Mass of Christian Burial.

After being in contact with you, a member from the St. Andrew Bereavement Committee

will help you choose readings and music for the Mass of Christian Burial

to take place at St. Andrew. This person will also be the contact person for you

if you have any needs, questions or concerns.

We are here to help you through this difficult time.

GRIEF SUPPORT

After a death, the St. Andrew Grief Support Group is there to help you.

There is someone for you to talk to.

There are books we have for you to read.

There are meetings you can attend with other people who have suffered a loss.

There are people to share coffee or a meal with, even if it's just to talk or listen.

Maybe you just need a phone call or card once in a while, or someone to pray with.

There are resources that we have to share with you, as much or as little as you choose.

Everyone grieves differently and everyone’s needs are different,

but the Grief Support Ministry is here to help you in any way that we can.

To speak to someone from Grief Support, call the office at (513) 831-3353.

PREPLANNING

At St. Andrew Parish, we offer the service of preplanning a funeral.

While this may be an uncomfortable topic to address, you will have the peace

of knowing that your scripture readings and song choices will be sung and read

at your funeral when the time comes.

In addition, preplanning a funeral is a wonderful gift to give your family.

By making decisions beforehand, funeral planning becomes one less thing

for your family to worry about during a very difficult time. It also reassures them

to know your funeral is exactly the way you would have wanted it to be and that

they are honoring you in the best way possible.

To pre-plan your funeral at St. Andrew Parish:

Please call or visit the Parish Office and pick up a funeral preplanning packet.

This packet contains all of the information you will need to get started in

preplanning your funeral.

You may also call the Parish Office (513) 831-3353 and ask for a member

from the Bereavement Committee to assist you in the preplanning process.

If you choose this option, a Bereavement Committee member will call you to

arrange a meeting time. During this meeting, the Bereavement Committee member

will sit down with you and go through the information step-by-step.

After finalizing your funeral (pre)plans, St. Andrew Parish will file your funeral plans

so that when the time comes, they will be easily accessible.
