SMILE YOUTH GROUP
ABOUT
The SMILE Youth Ministry Program is a joint program between St. Andrew and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parishes. SMILE gives our youth the opportunity to meet other teens in the Parish who attend other schools.
SMILE is designed to meet the needs of our Junior High students (7th & 8th grade) with meetings, service opportunities and social activities. High School students continue to participate in service projects, social activities and meetings, and can also go on the annual High School Retreat and/or mission trip.
Junior High students meet on the first Friday of the month at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton at 7pm, and High School students meet on the first and third Sundays of the month at St. Andrew at 7pm. All are welcome!

OUR YOUTH ARE THE PRESENT
AND FUTURE OF OUR CHURCH!
St. Andrew Parish feels strongly about the well-being of our
young people. They are gifted, talented and creative members of
our Parish. Our youth need encouragement, support, spiritual guidance
and they need to feel a part of their Parish community.
They are the present and future of our Church!

SMILE is designed to meet the needs of our
Junior High (7th & 8th grades) and High School students.
SMILE stands for "Something More In Life Expected."
Our challenge is to offer a process that meets the needs of the
total person. SMILE is based on the eight components of
Comprehensive Youth Ministry as designed in the
United States Catholic Conference of Catholic Bishops' document,
"Renewing the Vision - A Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry."
The Ministry of Advocacy
Challenges our church to examine its priorities to determine how
well young people are integrated into the life, mission, and work
of the Catholic community.
The Ministry of Catechesis
Growing in our relationship with God and knowledge of our faith.
Our Sunday night meetings take the place of high school
PREP for both Parishes.
The Ministry of Community Life
A sense of belonging to the group/Parish. The youth group is a
support system for teens and respect is a common value.
The Ministry of Evangelization
Inviting and encouraging all young people to be involved in some area of SMILE. This could be activities that are primarily social (bowling, movie nights)
or activities that push us to go deeper (service projects, retreats or meetings).
The Ministry of Justice and Service
Service projects can include visits to the nursing home or homeless shelter or
getting more involved in the Mass through being a lector, Eucharistic Minister, usher, choir member or server.
Ministry of Leadership Development
Enables teens to take a leadership role in SMILE through
peer ministry and other leadership areas.
Ministry of Pastoral Care
A compassionate presence especially for those who are hurting and in need.
You can always find a friend at SMILE.
Ministry of Prayer and Worship
Celebrating and deepening young people's relationship with Jesus Christ
through communal prayer, liturgical experiences and retreats.
